Volunteer Opportunities

Paralegals

Work with clients under the supervision of Authorized Practitioners. Assist with intake interviews, collect information and input information into forms or applications. Paralegals build relationships with clients through interactions and connect clients with needed services and ministries. Paralegals are not allowed to give any immigration advice. We are willing to work with college students to offer internships for credit.

Paralegal Internships

Paralegal Interns have the same responsibilities as paralegals. In addition to these responsibilities, they have a formal agreement with their college to receive college credit for their time as a paralegal. Internships are limited to 2 semesters.

Administrative Assistant

Will receive/make general phone calls, schedule appointments, open mail, make copies, as well as input classroom attendance and volunteer hours into spreadsheets. Will record and send out monthly prayer requests to prayer partners. The administrative assistant will also complete other office tasks to support the executive director, legal staff, and volunteer coordinator. This position will also be responsible for client check-in and hospitality.

Civics or English Tutors

Will assist classroom teachers in helping their students improve their skills in speaking, reading, writing, and comprehending the English Language. Tutors will additionally help the students learn the civics and government questions that are required to become a United States citizen. In addition, tutors can choose to work one-on-one with students who are in need of extra assistance.

Volunteer Coordinator

Will be responsible to respond to requests for volunteer opportunities and direct those interested in volunteering to our website to complete the volunteer application. They will also interview volunteers, check their references, ensure client confidentiality and required paperwork is completed, and complete orientation with volunteers. The coordinator is also responsible to assign the areas each volunteer will work and to work with the director/coordinator of each area to assign volunteer days and times. They will work with the administrative assistance to ensure the tracking of volunteer time is recorded.

Grant Writers

Work with the Operations Director (OD) to search for and apply to funding bodies that are interested in the work we do. Volunteers will learn how to write an initial Letter of Interest (LOI) to a grant maker, how to write a full grant application, and how to establish and build long-term relationships with funding bodies.

Fundraisers

Work with the OD to brainstorm, plan, and implement physical and digital fundraising events and/or campaigns. Volunteers will learn how to leverage a network of new and existing supporters to raise money for our immigration and education services.

Media Content Creators

Work with the OD to create informative and compelling social media posts, videos, and more for our social media accounts and website. Volunteers will create content that complies with Brand Guidelines. Sometimes, fundraising and social media volunteers will work in tandem to raise awareness for a fundraising event or campaign.

Photographer/Videographer

For a variety of needs, including events and client stories. Photographers/videographers capture moments for use on social media, online and in print

Prayer Partner

Commit themselves to pray for our clients, staff, and mission. They will receive a monthly email with specific prayer requests.

Community Connector

Connect Immigrant Hope and its services to their networks to create new partnerships, potential clients, and more
